I am Emily Callaghan (she/her/hers), a bilingual licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland. I combine different methods of psychotherapy to help address anxiety, depression, complex trauma, domestic violence, stress management, immigration process, gender identity process, adoption, grief and loss. I utilize an interpersonal, narrative, humanistic approach that generates connection, clarity, and stability.
I believe that people of all walks of life have the capacity to make positive changes. When addressing the emotional and mental health needs of my clients, I strongly take into account their culture of origin, gender identity, spirituality, and value system. My warm, interactive style provides a safe place for introspection. My goal is to provide you with the tools that will improve your motivation, emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, and personal aspirations.
A Tad Bit More…
I provide counseling for teens with an array of needs at a local high school and have a thorough understanding of the IEP process. I strongly believe in self-care as a core component in healing from trauma and mental health challenges. I practice self-care in the form of gardening, traveling, and hiking. On rainy days I tend to visit historical sites and museums. You will most likely see me with a cup of coffee. My clients describe me as an old soul with a good sense of humor.
